Golf Instructions for Going the Distance
Golf is a sport and as such has some fundamentals that you should learn. Things like rules, methods, equipment and customs are all
valuable instructions. If you ever want to be a golf expert, you will need golf
instructions.
In the United States, there are a couple of licensing organizations for golf instruction, the US Golf Teachers Federation and the
Professional Golfers Association. These organizations license schools, which provide golf instructions so that anyone can have the same
knowledge of the game as a professional.
If you are interested in learning more about golf instruction below are a few tips to get you started. Use these tips to gain more
information about golf and golf instructions:
1. Medieval Beginnings of Golf
Believe it or not, golf instructions have been around since the 1350’s. In these medieval times, the idea of golf instruction
was in full swing as golfers allowed each group to strike the next unbroken shot.
2. Golf Instructions are not cheap! Golf instructions were pretty pricey before the gutta percha ball, a
cheaply imported ball, was invented. The golf ball was expensive to make before this and only a handful of cottage merchants in the
Edinburgh area were undertaking the laborious and costly enterprise.
3. Golf Instructions- Show and Tell
By 1848, the basic fundamentals were in place and the practice of plopping down a ball to show a new golfer how to stand, grip
or swing had become the standard show and tell golf instructions. This is also the year the “guttie ball” was invented.
The guttie ball made golf an affordable sport for many people and it finally spread from the Scottish lowlands to the rest of the
world.
4. Golf Instructional Book The first golf instructions book was published in 1857. H.B. Farnie wrote “A
Keen Hand” which was filled with golf strategies, techniques and instructions for playing golf.
5. Important Golf Instructions Any golf instructions should include the essentials, which are proper
alignment, posture, swing and grip. These are the foundational golf instructions that every golfer must begin with. All your future
shots will depend on golf instructions in these areas.
6. Shots and Golf Instructions
All golfers are interested in learning the different traditional shots. These shots are chipping, approaches, fairway shots,
sand shots and driving and through golf instructions, you can learn them to.
Once you have the basics in hand, you can move on to higher levels of golf instructions.
Player will be taught intricate techniques like controlling the loft, controlling the shape of the shot and trouble shots.
The best way to lean golf is of course through specific sets of golf instructions. A
good instructor or book on golf instructions should include everything from the basics to the intricacies.
